Caffè e amazzacaffè(coffee killer)

Yesterday I could enjoy one good Italian tradition about coffee and liqueur. After dinner I heard about amazzacaffè.

Amazzacaffè means literally 'coffee killer' in Italian. It is a custom that people drink liqueur with a short glass after a meal, like Sunday lunch or special dinner with relatives or friends and so on. The liqueur is considered for taste and also the caffeine effect.

Limoncello and Moretto

Yesterday evening I got offered two kinds of liqueur, Limoncello and Moretto made by my father-in-law's cousin. Limoncello is made of lemon, alcohol, and water. I wanted to drink Limoncello after I got to know that, but I think I could not have the opportunity, so I felt very lucky.

Limoncello is popular liqueur from Italy. This time I drank a homemade one but, some alcohol makers selling that beverage too. The taste was sour and sweet. I was surprised by the strongness of alcohol because I did not expect it so much, but it was very tasty. Moretto is the liqueur of blackberries. It was very very sweet and I liked it so much.

When I lived in Japan, I did not have so many chances to have been taught beverages by people surrounding me, but in Italy, I think I had a chance like this more and am enjoying cozy drinking time and getting more curiosity for beverage too.🍷🍸🍹🍻
